Peter J. Oestergaard globe, 1900

Diameter 35,5 cm,  total height 55 cm. Approx.1900. This is a beautiful globe with a beautiful turned ebonised foot. It has a brass meridian in also in good condition. There are no damages on the globe worth mentioning. There are some small discolorations on the globe (see pictures).

The globe is made up of twelve coloured printed paper gores and two polar calottes, the equator graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days but not labelled, the oceans showing ocean currents, steamship routes and submarine cable line, the continents with nation states, variously and delicately coloured and showing railway line, rivers, mountains, the Great Wall of China and other details. The borders of the South pole were unknown at the time.
