Condition: This is a rare and beautiful collapsible globe. The globe in good condition for its age apart from some discolorations and some small tears near top and bottom (see pictures)
Description:The globe is made up of eight coloured printed coloured waxed cloth gores, the equator graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days and labelled with the houses of the zodiac, the continents with nation states, rivers, mountains and other details.
The globe was designed by John Betts (1844-1863), in the Strand London, of whom little is known except from the fact that he produced educational material for children.
